Welcome everyone to the latest newsletter it feels good to be back to normal.
First I was pleased to see Mick in attendance I speak for everyone when I say "great to see you mate". Adrians back at long last following his illness of cdiff which is a nasty stomach bug.
We also welcome Steve to the Club its nice to see yet another new member. This month saw us have a club workshop with a difference. We called it Four corners which included carving, styling, wiring and air layering and we had a great turn out.
Les who was showing and teaching his carving skills managed to set of the halls fire alarm which we all found very amusing. Bobs air layering was not quite ready to cut and separate so it was decided to leave for another few weeks. Gordon worked on a Chinese Elm which belonged to someone else so he felt free to work on it and made a very good job of returning the style to it. Clifford worked on his own tree styling it. Richard spent the evening picking up cuttings and twigs off the floor to take home. He was also responsible for eating most of the biscuits.
There was a great turn out of members trees for Tree off the month. It was won by our secretary Adrian With his Chinese Elm in a Stone Monkey pot.

Dear members
I must say a big thank you in welcoming new members visiting the Club and all the existing members who attended the September meeting. Shane sent his apologises for being unable to attend due to another engagement (Fishing).
It was a productive evening seeing members working hard on trees, others wanted to watch and learn from the more experienced members within the club. Once again a great turnout for Tree of the month.
Les our Vice Chairman won Tree of the month. Richard had fun all evening planting members cutting they had just removed. Full pictures of his tree and the evening are attached to this newsletter.
Our Christmas dinner this year is to be held on December 11th at 1pm at the Harvester Restaurant located at Broomfield. At the November meeting the full address and menus will be available for you to read and take away. It would be great to see you all available to attend this year as this is our last social event of the year.
Just a small moan, club meetings run from 7-30 until 10pm. I understand and respect that several members have some distance travelling home, and with the colder frostier nights wish to leave a bit earlier but during the September meeting as soon as we had completed our tea break and raffle most members either left or cleared the tables away leaving only Clifford and I working on our trees the time was 9pm.
With this time of the year comes rain, make sure your trees don’t become water logged. Tip the pot slightly and support with a piece of wood etc. This will help to drain off any surface water. Be careful to protect trees from cold winds and generally cold weather. Stop feeding most species of trees. Accent / Mame plants need to be brought indoors to protect them.
Next month’s Club night is on Wednesday Nov 9th at 7-30. This will be a general workshop evening, so please bring a tree to work on. Workshop evenings give you an opportunity to both give and receive advice from other members. This helps us all to better our knowledge.
It would be nice to have more members engage on Facebook: Kentbonsaiclub or via the website blog page.Kentbonsaiclub.weebly.com/blog

Welcome to this month’s Club newsletter and gossip. Thank you to all of you who attended the meeting this month.
We had a good turn out again to a general workshop evening by members and guests. It was enjoyable to see such a variety of trees at the club to be styled and for advice by more experience members. Members who have only been involved in our beautiful hobby and friendly social environment are making leaps and bounds within the club due to their passion of Bonsai and are now showing trees at the Club Shows.
We have found a replacement for our longstanding fund raiser on the committee who has decided to stand down at the next AGM. His name will be released in due course.
We are asking that you complete a new membership form when you arrive at your first meeting this year. This is because we have available now the option of Texting members reminding them of meetings or important information, we are required by law to get your permission. Please remember to bring your membership fee with you. Please check that I have your full details including email address and contact number so you can receive full information from the club.
On Sunday May 14th, we held our Late Spring Show. This year we had more than double the amount of public attend and enjoy a wonderful club display and general show. We had a Club sales table and U.K Bonsai tables also had a sales table. We the committee were so pleased to see so many club members on the day. Best Tree in Show was won by our most deserving and long serving club member Maureen Musselwhite. Her wonderful display was not only the publics favourite but club members as well. I know I speak for every member when I congratulate her on her display. I have attached a picture of the display. A full report and pictures on the show is on our website.
Next month’s club is on Wednesday June 14th. This is a very special evening as we welcome Steve McKee to our Club for the first time. JUNE NEWSLETTER
Welcome to this month’s Club newsletter and gossip. Thank you to all of you who attended the June meeting, this month we welcomed new and old faces back to the Club.
Our guest speaker this month was Steve Mc Kee. This was a most enjoyable evening full of interesting information and humour. We were shown different types of Accents, how to plant and care for them.
This was a change from the normal type of guest speaker because instead of styling a Yamadori etc, we were shown how to display accents within a composition telling a complete story. For those who didn’t attend and for those who want a future reference. I have produced a special page called “Accent care and planting” which is available on our website for you with full photographic explanation regarding all aspects of accents.

Welcome to this month’s Club newsletter and gossip. Thank you to all of you who attended the July meeting, this month we welcomed new and old faces back to the Club for our annual auction. Many members were kept away through prior engagements or illness, myself being one of these. Apologies from Gary were also received.
Although attendance was only average for the auction there were many bargains to be had. One tree alone demanded a price of over fifty pounds. I have added a few photographs of the evening our club website for you to look at. Total figures for the evening will be given at the August meeting. Les was awarded tree of the month. A couple of members who were absent at the auction because of unforeseen circumstances have requested that they would like to bring a few items to sell at the August meeting.
This has been agreed so the items will be on the stage for you to view with a guide price and the owners name. We ask that if you are interested in any item you speak to them during the tea break. We request that the evening not be disrupted by other private auctions taking place.
We still ask that you complete a new membership form for 2017 if you haven’t already done so. This is because we have available now the option of Texting members reminding them of meetings or important information.

APRIL NEWSLETTER
Welcome to this, the third Club newsletter and gossip of 2019.This month we welcomed new and old faces back to the Club for another meeting enjoying this wonderful hobby of ours.
If your personal details have changed, we require updated information to avoid disappointment with receiving club information. We need your phone number and email address.
Clifford our chairman opened the meeting explaining that due to unforeseen circumstances Alex Rudd our speaker for the evening was going to be delayed for a while.
We understand that a couple of our members were unhappy about the delay but sometimes this is unavoidable. I apologise on behalf of the club for any inconvenience this may have caused.
We had a great turnout for the evening with many members bringing trees for Alex to look at for advice. Several members were not present due to other commitments or sickness (me). I have received a great number of messages from members etc informing me of their enjoyment during the evening. All the photographs added to this newsletter and those on the website were taken by James Dutch a member of the club.
Tree of the month chosen by Alex and was won by Gary. I have added a picture of this very pretty maple.
Now as most of you are aware each month, I must have a little moan about something, why because I’m outspoken and the secretary. Let’s start with the Hanami show the club recently attended for the third year running at Brogdale Nurseries. I was unwell and not able to make it. WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE MEMBERS, if it wasn’t for CLIFFORD and TIM no one would have turned up to represent the club? Must we always rely on the few to attend, set up, bring exhibits at all our shows etc. You are part of the club please try to help at future events.
Please may I ask members that before they visit garden centres etc they inform me. This is to avoid another member visiting the same place and repeating things.
I hope to continue receiving club night and event photographs and any articles from you about bonsai or any subject, so I can add it both to our newsletters and the website with your permission. Please don’t forget about our blogsite on the club site and of course our Facebook page for information. These are ways to discuss bonsai information with other members at any time. You can also join Friends who like KENT BONSAI CLUB on Facebook this is an ever-growing page for small talk and items for sale from bonsai hobbyists around the country. This group is monitored by me so every message I receive is checked.
With new technology now available it is easy to look things up on the internet or social media but the best way to lean about all things bonsai is within the club environment from the members with many years’ experience, with many clubs closing due to lack of interest around the country we must all support our club as much as possible.
Each Club workshop meeting a senior member of the club will now be available to spend time with new members on a one to one basis. Showing and explaining the basics of bonsai and tree selection etc.
Next month is a general workshop evening and Club Show Prep.
